Creating Gadgets: Preparation for Tonight’s Hackathon

This session is perfect for those who want to participate in the Hackathon but don’t have any experience working with OU Campus gadgets. In this session, learn what gadgets are, what gadgets can do, and what gadgets are made of. After the overview, Shahab will demonstrate how to write a simple gadget. He will also show how to call the OU Campus API, allowing the gadget to fully integrate with OU Campus.
Front-End Development Best Practices

In this workshop, learn important best practices for front-end web development. Find out how to take advantage of your browser’s built-in developer tools and other popular frameworks in order to become a more productive developer. You will learn how modern browsers process a web page and how to optimize your code for performance. The workshop will overview the most common mistakes that lead to slower page loads and poor browser performance, and you’ll learn what you can do to improve page performance immediately.

Responsive Design and OU Campus
Thursday, February 25 | 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM | Crystal Ballroom
In this workshop, learn the basic concepts of responsive web design. You will receive hands-on experience building a responsive template using a framework with a responsive grid system. This workshop will describe progressive enhancement and browser compatibility, and it will showcase different tools and frameworks available for your responsive projects. Additionally, you will be able to put the concepts into practice as you build a new template from a design mockup.
